How's That Journey to Becoming Organized Going?

How's my journey to becoming organized going? Well, it's going the pace of baby steps...little baby steps...but not as little as the "steps" my 4-month-old takes ;)

No there's actually been some progress! What progress? Well...first off, I not only have taken on starting this new (and awesome if I do say so myself) business with Clever Container (which is going GREAT by the way), but recently I have also taken on being a mom of 2 (hence the 4-month-old), doing "daycare" (babysitting 5 children who are not my own on a regular basis - not at the same time...only up to 3 of them at one time) to help bring in extra money until my business is profiting enough, we are doing construction on half of our house (I'm surprised how well we are surviving living in just half...especially with daycare), and I was asked to join a special choir that will be performing in a televised broadcast to the world on Oct. 4th (2-4pm MST)...so I don't have a lot of organizing updates to show. But hey, excuses stink, so get with it, Jessica! So...

Here's the progress I HAVE made:
Probably shouldn't have taken these pictures on my cell phone...
  1. I've got a nice calender system going :)
    • It's so good for your sanity if you can see an overview of your schedule in one place if you are super busy like me...and who isn't?
      • I'm actually using a white board working-calendar in my office so I don't have paper waste!
  2. Speaking of an "office", I have one now!
    • I spent the BEST $10 I ever have and got myself a nice "new to me" desk with hutch! It's so much better than my old system of sitting on the couch with my laptop and a pile of paperwork or bills.
      • It even came with an amazing, supportive swivel chair that sits me properly and is quite comfy. Thanks Barbie! (...my friend who I bought it off of)
  3. My "to do" lists have now been transferred to a white board (and color coded!)
    • I used to do paper (messy and useless because I misplaced them all the time) or digital on my phone (easy to ignore), but now there's not a mess and I can't ignore it so easily!
      • Eventually I'm going to switch to THIS system because it's cute and super useful.
  4. Business materials are mostly organized!
    • There's still room for improvement, but for the most part my business materials are organized from an all-inclusive binder to organized files on my computer. I'm especially loving my Suite Seat for when I do home parties :)
      • Now it's just a matter of keeping up good habits of putting things back where they belong...
  5. Budgeting.
    • I used to balance our budget month-to-month, but now I am trying pay-date to pay-date so I can really see the balance of our money.
      • It brought forth some revelations about our budget that have motivated us to cut back costs and encouraged me:
        • We switched cell phone companies to one that is saving us $80/month
        • We got rid of Netflix
        • We traded in our leased car for a financed car with a lower monthly payment
        • I realized I'm bringing in ENOUGH money between Clever Container and daycare that it's all going to be ok!
          • We are working to get out of debt (three college degrees + a newly started one to pay for between my husband and I, plus all that other debt from cars to our home to some credit cards)
          • It looks like sooner than I expected Clever Container may replace my daycare income too!
What's next?
  1. Laundry. I NEED to get a better system going for my laundry efforts.
    • It doesn't help that my laundry room is in that half of the house that is under construction, but I'm resourceful and there HAS to be a better way.
  2. Dishes. My worst enemy.
    • Mostly I need to get organized in my efforts, but perhaps some decluttering could help.
  3. The office. A vital "organ" to my money making efforts.
    • It's on the right path already, but there's still more that can be improved.
Your turn!
What areas do you need to get organized? What successes have you already had?
